Parents choose to homeschool their children for many different reasons: it suits a flexible lifestyle, your family travels regularly, you do not feel that your local school is the right fit or it could be that your child suffers some anxiety related to physically attending school. Whatever the reason, taking control of your child’s education should be a positive and proactive choice. Recent research has suggested that children who are homeschooled not only perform statistically better academically but are also typically above average when it comes to social, emotional and psychological development. At Benbridge Academy, we believe that choosing a 21st Century approach to education, in this ever evolving landscape, is the best choice for our next generation. How will my child benefit?
The benefits of homeschooling are vast; however, joining our community for part of the week will enable your child to not only develop group work and collaboration skills – something that would be difficult at home – but to enhance their digital literacy, while building relationships with other students. Joining our classes will ensure that any student learning from home will still belong to a peer group and have regular opportunities to laugh, chat and share experiences with children of their own age. With the support of Benbridge Academy, homeschooled students can have the best of both worlds.
Example Scenarios
Example 1 – KS2 |
You really enjoy teaching your child English, History and Geography and have the knowledge and resources to facilitate independent learning. However, you recognise that it would be beneficial for your child to be taught Mathematics and Science by a qualified and experienced specialist. |
What can we offer? Once enrolled with Benbridge Academy as a part time student, your child would be scheduled to join the relevant year group when Maths and Science lessons are timetabled. With our three subject package, they would be free to choose another subject of interest, for example Computing or a Modern Foreign Language. PSHE is available to all students in our community and your child would be welcome to join weekly lessons with their new classmates. |
Example 2 – KS2 |
You have the capability and time to successfully tutor your child in the core subjects of Maths, English and Science at home. You are looking for a way of enriching your child’s educational experiences and to provide opportunities for them to develop skills in other areas. |
What can we offer? With our three subject package, your child would have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of subjects. Perhaps they would like to study a modern foreign language, such as French, Spanish or Mandarin, or develop their artistic or musical talents. With our bespoke packages, the pathways are endless. Our free PSHE lessons will provide further opportunities to connect with peers and ensure your child’s wellbeing. |
Example 3 – KS4/KS5 |
Your child is studying for their GCSEs or A’Levels at home and you are providing home tuition for a number of subjects, including Mathematics, English, History and Geography. However, you require homeschooling assistance with a number of other subjects, such as Double Award Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology), Computer Science or Art. |
What can we offer? Choose from our range of 3 or 4 subject packages and let Benbridge Academy provide the highest standard of education in these areas, ensuring your child achieves their desired results across all of their chosen subjects. Following a consultation with a member of our Secondary team, to establish your exact requirements, we can work with you to design a bespoke package that supports your homeschooling curriculum and ensures that your child is fully prepared for their examinations. In addition, these packages come with all the pastoral support and guidance necessary to enable students to manage their workload and the stress that comes with revising for exams. Our expert team can also provide information and guidance on connecting with examination centres, university applications and careers advice.
Having a safe and secure network around them is essential for students, particularly during this period, for a sense of wellbeing and positive mental health. Becoming a member of our school community will not only be invaluable in this regard but will give your child access to extra support, such as one-to-one mentoring sessions, PSHE lessons and opportunities for collaboration, interaction and socialisation with peers. |
How does it work?
Our flexible packages enable you to facilitate learning yourself, related to the subjects that you enjoy and enroll your child on the subjects of your choice at Benbridge Academy. Our packages enable you to choose three or more specific subjects and tailor your child’s learning journey to suit your needs. Package prices are calculated in line with the number of lessons timetabled per week, in relation to the subjects your choose.
